At first I thought this site wasn't good, because it is one of those free sites and stuff, but it has turned out to be quite good.
And if you think I am just here for the downloads, well I am not, because honestly I don't want to lie to you, but I have other sources for downloading and stuff.
Now as for LMT, a lot of you guys haven't been on LMT for long, and I for one am starting to not like it aswell.
But we all have to admit, and you guys have to be honest about this, but most of us would be nowhere without LMT you have to admit.
Because if someone new into magic wants to learn magic on the internet what do they search for "How to do magic tricks/ Learn magic tricks" and thats why there are so many people on LMT, but I guess I know for one LMT has helped me heaps.
Now a little history for you guys. What can I say....well LMT used to be a happy place, piracy, everyone happy not too many mods, but just enough. Now it was all pretty good, and I don't think I will go into too much detail (but forgive me if I get carried away), anywayz, LMT was all good pretty much, it had it's bumbs in between with spammers etc. and it was all good. Then this one dude came along he is still a member, his member name is amh67 or something, now he started this thing saying piracy was wrong and started a "resistance" and influenced some mods and then DJC and then piracy was gone and then HAVOCK all over LMT, many liked it many left, and also, there was also rivalry between 2 new magic websites zrmagic.com (not sure if it exists now) and sleightartists.com, which had many mods involved with both.
Then after that at around November another problem everyone thought that LMT was going to close in 2008 and people also went crazy then, and some people did stupid things, and some mods did stupid things, like one mod, who knows who he is, gave his passoword for his mod account away and people started using it and stuff, and then the other mod David Engel, who I think may still be lurking around LMT and they know who they are, and he banned people and deleted threads, and pretty much ruined the forum, then DJC had to unmod all the mods because he didn't know which mod went crazy. And then all accounts were banned, and that's why there are barely any mods now and pretty much no rules, or no swearing filters.
So that's pretty much it, but one problem with the forum with LMT is DJC, even though it is his site, he doesn't seem to care about the forum, and if you think he doesn't go on much, but he does go on heaps, but only posts on random stuff, but never cares about the people on the forum, but I could be wrong, and the other theory is that DJC is doing this all for money, which could also cause problems.
And that is pretty much it, now how this is relevant to this topic, I am not sure...And sorry for this kinda useless post...

I think you're right, if it wasn't for LTM and DJC most of all this wouldn't be here (not talking about this site, but you know what I mean) even I, I performe live in Japan now, next week I'm going to thailand, etc. But I've learn a lot in LMT. So it deserves our gratitude (I've been in LMT for a long time now). And yes things were better in LMT before then now. The problem in the forum is not DJC, it's all the stupid kids and noobs that came recently, they only want to have free stuffs and fights, they don't care about anything else nor the past of LMT. And of course others peoples sometimes get upsets seeing this and enter in fights as well... Something need to be change in LMT, yes, and I thing DJC is not doing too much (or nothing) because is beeing carefull now. Because even if it's not very good now, it's still better then when it was in the "chaos period", don't you think? I think is doing stuffs step by step now, to not make any new mistakes. And yes I agree that maybe is going a little to slow, but I think he deserve a chance (because remember the beginning of my post). Another thing, I don't think is doing this for the money. I think is just human and doesn't have many people to help him with the site (not talking about members, but people that he knows and are behind LMT.)
Maybe I'm wrong in all I've said, but maybe not. I don't really know. And maybe you don't like to hear me defending DJC, but I think that it's not pushing someone down that helps getting him out of the "moving sand", it's pulling him up...

But I agree with pretty much everything you said, because I have also got heaps from LMT, I have only been into magic for like a year and a half now, probably a bit more, and if it wasn't for LMT, I may never know, where I could be now, probably not into magic.
And for the money theory, I do not completely agree with that, like with the LMT homepage with all the vids, I barely watch them because I pretty know most of the good stuff from there (not to brag) but you have to admit that DJC probably has put a lot of effort on his tutorial vids on youtube.
And also with the money, and why people say this, there are many small ways that DJC gets money from, one thing for starters is all the adverts on the site, another way is his mailing list, and I am not sure if you get the same emails as me, but do you get those, "Become a great magician overnight" emails, well I have pretty much realised that DJC isn't actually wanting to recommend this, but he probably gets paid, if anyone buys those videos, or ebooks from his referral link. And another thing is the autographed card, which I personally find quite sad, but I guess it can be understandable, but honestly, US$5 for a signed card from him? Like I guess a little postage price or something is reasonable, but other really famous magicians, would more than happily give you something signed for free, but I guess the card could cost money...And the bad thing about the card signing, is that he promotes it.....
And another thing I have just thought of is the merchandise, but honestly, I doubt anyone would want that merchandise...And that may be another way for DJC to get money..
But we would never really know the truth, pretty much only DJC does.
Like maybe at first we wanted, to do it in his spare time, but now he may be thinking of it more on the lines of a business.

But oh well, just another one of my opinions...

I read your post and thinking of it, yeah it's a good point that you focused there. I'd never really thought of that think with all the advertising and emails... The signed autograph is really a bad thing too and I don't understand why he put this in the site, that was really a bad move! (I got one for free by the way ) I don't understand why he didn't take this out yet... People who don't like him will for sure use this has a "prove". I give my autographs for free and I think any magician do the same. I don't really understand this move... Anyway, I think you are right in what you said, but I still think is not doing this in a greed way, like moneymoneymoney! , I think it's just a way to earn some money with all that so that the costs of the site doesn't all come from his pocket. But like you said, we don't really know...

Amen! That's one of the reasons I have acpected your invite. This site is what I'm looking for. I just hope it will turn into a LMT if too much and not carefully choosen members are added...
